Not Dead Yet

Ed. Note: Just checking in after a sweep of the Diamondbacks. Actual posts to resume sometime around September 27 or around that weekend.

---

What were the odds that Brian Wilson would blow back-to-back save chances and Velez would bail him with game-winning hits?

One thing's for sure: the Giants, even in their present state, sure know how to play spoiler. I'll ignore the fact about the Dodgers sitting pretty in first place, because the Giants have the chance to spoil their hopes in the following weeks.

A Bit of Site News

It's this time of the year again, when summer ends and school begins. Bummer. So, posts will be sporadic, probably even more so as it's junior year. Hopefully I can pick up again about mid-September, when my weekends aren't inundated with various SAT classes.

Computer Down Again

In other news, the sky is blue and water is wet.

Trying to get the PC up and running again. Posts to come soon.

I'm Back

Well, I certainly picked a fine time to go to a 9-day camp at Cal with minimal internet use. Apparently some guy named Baron Davis opted out of his contract to head home for the Clippers and Tim Lincecum graced the cover of SI.

Actual posts in the near future. In the meantime, if you haven't already, check out the SI article about Timmy here.

Hi, I'm a PC

... and I crashed this morning so that my owner couldn't reboot me at all and now has to use a super-old computer that freezes every 5 minutes.

Since I can't type anything without fear of losing all my work, this post will be short.

Someone get Misch the shamrock or horseshoe that Rueter used to pitch with.

Lincecum on the mound tonight facing Ubaldo Jimenez at 6:05.

1,000 and Counting

I want to give a BIG shout-out to all the fans visiting the Front-Row. Today, TFRJ topped 1,000 visitors since it’s inauguration in late July of ’07. Sitemeter counts every page visit, and it’s amazing to see the growth of this little blog. It’s been a pleasure writing up articles, so thanks for checking out my latest analyses, opinions, rants, and lame attempts at humor. I really appreciate the first 1,000 visits and can’t wait ‘til the next 1 grand.

I’ll cap this off with one of my favorite, most recent front row johnsons.

Thanks for the sole!

Winter Hiatus

I'm going on hiatus again. This time, it'll probably be for a week or so. Okay, maybe more because I'm going places for Christmas vacation. In the meantime, keep your eyes and ears open for any news about the Giants trade front and the Golden State Warriors for me. I heard they just downed last year's champions tonight ;P

Your Guide to C-Speak

Here's a comprehensive list of terms and names I'll be using throughout the seasons. I'll constantly be updating with different sports versions.

Baseball:
  • The Enchanter: Tim Lincecum. Young Giants rookie pitcher with a blazing heater, and nasty curve, and a wicked split/change-up.
  • Cainer: Matt Cain. Young Giants pitcher with the stuff capable of a shutout or no-hitter. Unfortunately this season, the Giants offense sadistically seem to refuse to give him run support. He got 2 or fewer runs in the last 13 of 19 games.
  • BLB: Barry Lamar Bonds. No explanation necessary.
  • Matty Mo: Matt Morris. The veteran of the Giants starting rotation. Started off fantastically, but somehow petered off over the course of the season. He's the most valuable trade bait.
  • Dirty Sanchez: Young lefty relief pitcher. Has some nasty sliders and breaking balls in his arsenal to strike guys out. If you see how his pitches cut across the plate, you'll mos. def. think "dirty".
  • "Sid-DOWN!" or "Eat it": My spin-off of Mike Krukow's famous "Grab some pine, meat" catchphrase. "Eat it" is also used when a player openly defies general knowledge.
Basketball
  • Boom Dizzle or BD: Baron Davis. Leader of the Golden State Warriors.
  • Dubs: Shortened form of W, which is short for Warriors.
  • Jax: Stephen Jackson. The hothead of the team, but a crucial hothead.
  • TMNT: Al Harrington. He looks like a Ninja Turtle.
  • Il Tiratore: Italian for "The Sharpshooter", "The Sniper", or "The Gunman". My nickname for the young Italian rookie who shot the lights out of Summer League, Marco Belinelli.
